5th Annual Role of Cardiac Imaging in Female Patients

Deborah Heart and Lung Center and The Cardiovascular Institute of Philadelphia hosted the 5th Annual Role of Cardiac Imaging in the Female Patients on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at the DoubleTree Suites by Hilton in Mt. Laurel.

This accredited continuing medical education symposium drew together some of the region’s leading cardiovascular experts to explore issues unique to females facing cardiac issues. The event was directed by Renee Bullock-Palmer, MD, Director of the Women’s Heart Center at Deborah.

Four panels focused on the influence of hormones and heart disease during women in the periomenopausal period; preventive cardiology including nutritional determinants of cardiovascular health and prevention education in cardiology; echocardiography in the female patient with emphasis on 3D echo in the OR, stress echo in valvular heart disease, diastolic dysfunction, and the value of strain imaging in the echo lab for infiltrative heart disease and chemotherapy induced cardiomyopathy; and nuclear and CT imaging in the female patient exploring the role of cardiac PET in infiltrative heart disease; present and future applications of cardiac CT; multimodality imaging in the management of cardiac complications of cardiac therapy, and the guidelines for nuclear reporting through case presentations.
