Know Your Risk for Heart Disease

J Krathen SS
Electrophysiologist Jonathan Krathen, DO

Heart disease describes a range of conditions that affect your heart. These include:

  • Blood vessel diseases, such as coronary artery disease
  • Heart rhythm problems (arrhythmias)
  • Heart defects at birth (congenital heart defects)

Other heart conditions, such as those that affect your heart’s muscle, valves or rhythm, are also considered forms of heart disease. According to electrophysiologist, Jonathan Krathen, DO “It’s important to know your risk for heart disease, to help reduce your risk.” Lifestyle behaviors, age and family history can play a role in the development of heart disease. Dr. Krathen explains on the Hurley in the Morning radio show how to modify risk factors, stages and management of heart disease, and treatments available. He also discusses the use of wearable devices to monitor heart rate and promote heart-healthy living.
