Deborah Heart and Lung Center provides Auxiliary Aids and services at no cost to the patient, family or visitor to promote effective communication, such as:

*Qualified interpreters, including

  • Foreign language interpreters
  • Sign Language Interpreters through VRI or as ordered by a physician

*Telephone aids, including TTDY telephones and large button telephones

*Written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic format, etc.) and translated into other languages

The determination of appropriate Auxiliary Aids or services, and the timing, duration, and frequency with which they will be used to provide effective communication will be made by a Physician at Deborah®, in consultation with the Patient and/or family or visitor when practical. The assessment made by Deborah will take into account all relevant facts and circumstances, including, for example, the individual’s communication skills and knowledge, the nature, length, and complexity of the communication involved, the individual’s preference for either a live or video remote interpreter and the reasons why, and the context in which the communication is taking place. The ultimate decision as to what Auxiliary Aids or services are appropriate rests with Deborah®, provided the decision is based on need and abilities of the patient.

If you have questions about the availability of Auxiliary Aids or services for your visit, please contact Case Management 609-893-1200 ext. 5259.
