Deborah has received a distinguished three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) for its patient care and outcomes in coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) surgery, aortic valve replacement (AVR), AVR+CABG, mitral valve repair/replacement (MVRR)+CABG and a two-star rating in MVRR. A three-star rating from STS represents one of the most respected professional benchmarks for quality cardiac surgery in the United States and Canada. Fewer than 7% of cardiac programs receive this distinction.

Performed the Very First Heart Surgeries in NJ
Dr. Charles Bailey, a pioneer in heart surgery, performed the first two open-heart surgeries in the state of New Jersey in 1958 here at Deborah. These surgeries were life-saving events for an adult and a child, and our commitment to innovation has not wavered since.

For over 65 years, we’ve been training graduate fellows in Cardiology, Electrophysiology, and Vascular Surgery. Our expertise is in every aspect of cardiovascular diagnosis and treatment and our fellows are exposed to all of it during their stay. They learn best practices in patient safety and quality and go on to be exceptional heart care physicians around the country.
