Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, accounting for the highest mortality rates among both men and women. Lung cancer starts when abnormal cells grow in an uncontrolled way in the lungs. It is a serious health issue that can cause severe harm and even death. To detect the cancer early, a low-dose computed tomography screening is recommended. Early treatment can prevent it from becoming worse and spreading to other parts of the body. Cardiothoracic surgeon Joseph Costic, DO, discusses causes, symptoms and treatments of lung cancer on the Hurley in the Morning radio show.
