Have Chronic Leg Pain? It Could Be Peripheral Artery Disease.

Do you have painful cramping in one or both hips, thighs, or calf muscles after physical activity that disappears with rest? Are your legs numb, weak, or cold? Are your legs or toes changing color or have sores that won’t heal? Any of these could be symptoms of Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), a serious condition that occurs when the arteries of the legs become narrowed or blocked by plaque, reducing blood flow. PAD can lead to leg pain when walking, disability, and even amputation, so it is important to take care of it before it is too late. That’s why Dr. Vincent Varghese was a guest on the Hurley in the Morning podcast this week to discuss the signs and symptoms of this condition, and how it can prevented and treated at Deborah Heart and Lung Center.
