Greg Olsen, PhD., President and CEO of GHO Ventures, LLC.Deborah Hospital Foundation’s 14th Annual Red Tie Gala will be held Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the Hilton Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. The Gala, emceed by 6ABC News Anchor Rick Williams, includes a cocktail reception and silent auction, lavish dinner, dancing to music provided by CTO Tribeca, and special entertainment.

This year’s Gala Honoree is Greg Olsen, PhD., President and CEO of GHO Ventures, LLC.

Dr. Olsen is an entrepreneur and scientist who in 2005, was the third private citizen to travel to the International Space Station (ISS). After training for five months in Moscow, he launched on a Russian Soyuz rocket TMA-7 on October 1 with Cosmonaut Valeri Tokarev and Astronaut Bill McArthur. He docked to the ISS on October 3, and returned to Earth on Soyuz TMA-6 on October 11 with Cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev and Astronaut John Phillips. During his 10 days in space, he performed more than 150 orbits of the Earth and logged almost 4 million miles of weightless travel. Dr. Olsen was only able to fulfill this dream of space travel with the help of his Deborah Heart and Lung Center Pulmonologist, Dr. David Murphy, who was able to have him medically cleared with the Russian Space Center.

Deborah Hospital Foundation’s 14th Annual Red Tie Gala is in support of Deborah Heart and Lung Center. For 97 years, Deborah Heart and Lung Center has been providing ground-breaking health care, delivering the most sophisticated level of care in the country for cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular services. The Hospital is a clinical affiliate of the Cleveland Clinic Heart & Vascular Institute. Deborah has been recognized by the federal government as one of only six 5-Star rated hospitals in New Jersey, placing it in the top 8% of hospitals nationwide. Deborah’s founding mission, “There is No Price on Life,” continues to guide and shape the organization, and the Hospital, in its nearly 100-year history, has never rendered a bill to a patient for the life-saving services Deborah provides at its main hospital building. In fact, it is one of only three hospitals nationally who have been granted a waiver by the Federal Government to not bill its patients, and it is the only one that treats adults and children. The Foundation’s Gala is one way that the Hospital is able to fund this mission.

“It is a great pleasure to once again be part of this amazing event,” said Gala Chair, Melissa McGrath. “The work done at Deborah is incredible, from clinical research studies to cutting-edge innovation and technology as well as its robust fellowship program training the next generation of cardiologists. Knowing that in addition to receiving the very best medical care, patients don’t have to worry about financial stresses during times of medical emergencies is truly wonderful. It is gratifying to support such a dedicated organization.”

Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Deborah Hospital Foundation’s President and CEO, Joseph Chirichella, agreed. “We strive to maintain an exceptional level of quality and patient safety, while also focusing on medical care and providing our patients with an outstanding experience. Our patients, neighbors, friends, and family are the heart and core of our focus here at Deborah. Our mission of compassion and kindness ensures that no one leaves Deborah with financial stress because of a medical bill. I am truly grateful that the Foundation is able to aid in supporting this mission.”

The Gala kicks off at 6:00 p.m. with an elegant cocktail reception. Guests can browse the Silent Auction items offered that evening, including travel packages, sports tickets and memorabilia, performing arts tickets, and restaurants and destination events. A sumptuous meal, dancing to one of Philly’s top bands CTO Tribeca, surprise entertainment, and panoramic views of the Philadelphia evening skyline make for a memorable evening.

Tickets to the Gala are $325 each. For more information, or to request a sponsorship package, please call 609-893-0200 or visit www.deborahfoundation.org.
