Deborah Heart and Lung Center Receives PSE&G Energy Grant for Upgrade Projects

$4.5 Million Project Will Increase Energy Efficiency and Reduce Operating Costs

Deborah Heart and Lung Center is in the planning stage for a number of upgrades and enhancements to its Browns Mills campus’ mechanical plant and interior lighting. The $4.5 million project is being financed through a combination grant and zero percent interest loan from PSE&G. Torcon, Inc. is the General Contractor for this project.

“We are excited about this opportunity to both reduce energy consumption and operating costs,” said Deborah Executive Vice President and COO, Joseph Manni. “Reducing our environmental footprint remains a continued long-term operational goal of the Hospital, and this is an opportunity to further that objective.”

According to Neil DeGregorio, Deborah’s Director of Facilities Management, the project has a number of components.

“We are replacing two chillers, upgrading our interior lighting to LED through replacements and rewiring, and installing new boiler controls and air handlers. The project will span a year and a half and will make a meaningful difference in our energy consumption.”

Manni noted that the energy project would be occurring simultaneously with other, planned, capital construction work at the hospital this year.

“While we’re doing major new construction, we’ll also be upgrading our current facility and outbuildings on our hospital campus. We’re excited about these renovations and the future of Deborah.”
