Deborah Heart and Lung Center Awarded CAP Accreditation

Deborah Heart and Lung Center’s Pathology Department has received a two year re-accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP). This prestigious industry standard underscores the excellent standards maintained by Deborah’s pathology labs.

“Our lab staff works hard each and every day to maintain accuracy and precision in our laboratory testing,” said Betsy L. Schloo, MD, Deborah’s Chair, Pathology Department. “I am proud that we have been recognized for adhering to the highest professional quality standards.”

The nationally respected CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program dispatches site inspectors who examine the laboratory’s records and quality control for procedures, as well as the lab staff’s qualification, equipment, facilities, safety program and record, and overall management.

“It is vitally important for our patients to know that Deborah maintains and exceeds national benchmark standards for testing and lab services,” she added. “This is a testament to the exacting professional
standards our staff holds themselves to. Lab tests are a vital part of medical care at Deborah and this accreditation demonstrates our highest level of care.”
