Deborah Announces New Cardiology Chair

Vincent J. PompiliJoseph Chirichella, President and CEO of Deborah Heart and Lung Center, has announced the appointment of Vincent J. Pompili of Moorestown as Cardiology Chair, effective immediately.

“I am delighted that Dr. Pompili has joined the team at Deborah,” said Chirichella. “He brings a wealth of experience with him, and his specialty interests in structural heart disease, complex coronary artery disease, cardiogenic shock, and regenerative medicine align perfectly with Deborah’s focus. We are looking forward to his energy and expertise.”

Dr. Pompili joins Deborah from Novant Health Heart Vascular Institute & Innovation Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he served as Senior Vice President. He has also held professional medical positions at The University of Nebraska Medical Center; The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center; The University Hospital Case Medical Center; Indiana University Medical Center; and the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Pompili is a graduate of Case Western University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, followed by a Cardiology Fellowship at The University of Michigan Hospital, and an Interventional Fellowship at Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

Board certified in Interventional Cardiology and Cardiovascular Diseases, Dr. Pompili holds licensure in Nebraska, Ohio, and North Carolina. New Jersey licensure is pending.

Dr. Pompili holds numerous professional memberships including the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions; the College of Cardiology; the American Medical Association; the Seton Catholic School Board of Trustees; and Chair of the Catholic Youth Summer Camp Board of Trustees.

A recipient of numerous professional honors, Dr. Pompili has widely published in Circulation, Science, Journal of the American College of Cardiology, Journal of Cellular Biochemistry, and The American Journal of Medicine, among others. An active researcher, he has served as Principal Investigator on a number of cutting-edge clinical trials, and actively presents at professional meetings and symposia, both nationally and internationally.

“I am absolutely humbled and honored to carry on the reigns of leadership of Deborah’s cardiology department,” said Dr. Pompili. “I am committed to the delivery of the highest level of cardiovascular care, research, and education in the region.”

Dr. Pompili has relocated to Moorestown with his wife Suzanne. They have two young adult daughters, Maria – who lives in New York City – and Caroline – who lives in St. Louis. Dr. Pompili enjoys cooking, traveling, and boating with his wife and family in his spare time.
