Deborah100: The Campaign Employee Effort Surpasses Half-Million Goal
Maureen “Mo” Collins, R.N, a registered nurse at Deborah Heart and Lung Center, and Chair of the Employee “Count Me In” Committee in support of Deborah100: The Campaign, announced that Deborah employees have raised more than $662,000 in support of the The Campaign. This surpasses their goal of $500,000. Hundreds of employees have contributed to the effort, which began with donations from the Hospital’s Board, leadership, and physician groups.
Deborah100: The Campaign is a multi-year fundraising initiative to add new floors to the Hospital, all with private inpatient suites. The Campaign kicked-off publicly this past November with the announcement of a $5 million gift from Deborah Hospital Foundation Board Member, Gregory Olsen, PhD. Dr. Olsen’s gift launched a $50-plus-million project to culminate with the 100th anniversary of Deborah Heart and Lung Center in 2022.
“The generosity of our employees and their dedication to this project will directly help Deborah to shape its future,” said Joseph Chirichella, President and CEO of Deborah Heart and Lung Center and Deborah Hospital Foundation. Deborah Heart and Lung Center is New Jersey’s only specialty cardiac, pulmonary, and vascular hospital, located in Burlington County. “It tells everyone that our employees are committed, they understand the work we do here is vital, they see the value of expansion and renovation, and how it affects care for every patient. We are proud of this news, and could not be more grateful for their extraordinary participation.”
To date, nearly $13 million in public and corporate commitments have already been secured towards The Campaign, a truly remarkable endorsement of Deborah from the community.
“I witnessed the enthusiasm for the employee campaign first-hand, and was astounded at the commitment from so many of our own,” said Robert Birnbaum, Chairman of the Deborah Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.
Added Joseph Manni, Executive Vice President and COO at Deborah: “Our community depends on our clinical and support teams for life-saving care. We take that responsibility seriously, and this financial support clearly shows the depth of their devotion.”
