Deborah’s 2018 Class of Student Nurse Externs arrived on campus to begin their formal rotations. The students are all currently enrolled in college nursing programs and will be working throughout the summer in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit, the Medical Intensive Care Unit, the Operating Room, 3 Main, 4 Lesser, and the Interventional Unit at the Hospital, where they will work directly with Deborah nurses to get first-hand experience in the field.
This year’s Class brings students to Deborah from Rowan College at Burlington County, The Catholic University of America, Rutgers University, and Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Deborah’s highly-competitive Student Extern Program is an extension of one of the Hospital’s core mission’s as a teaching hospital. The college student Extern Program, geared to training highly-specialized nurses, complements the Hospital’s Fellowship Program, which trains the next generation of physicians.
