Deborah welcomed students from the Pemberton Township High School Medical Arts Academy, for a Saturday morning service project. The students raked, mulched, and planted flowers in the Hospital’s interior Siemens Garden.
Students from the high school’s Medical Arts Academy have been volunteering for spring maintenance in the Siemens Garden for nearly ten years. Deborah and Pemberton Township High School have a close working relationship, with several Deborah staff members sitting on the Medical Arts Academy Advisory Board, where they work with high school faculty in developing programs and meaningful school to work experiences to shape the next generation of medical professionals.
Medical Arts Academy Advisor, Pemberton Township teacher Elisabeth McCartney, created the service project as a “thank you” to the Hospital for hosting Academy students at an annual Future Nurses Program, sponsored by Deborah. Over the years the project has included various other high school departments including wood shop and horticultural students.
